Sony’s ICF-C115L is a 3 band; FM, MW and LW clock radio with
a dual alarm. The radio uses a PP9 battery for time and alarm settings, but
this will not trigger the alarms if there is a mains power failure.
The green LED display is easy to read, but there is no
intensity control. LED’s clearly show which alarms are set. The tuning scale on
the radio’s front is clearly marked although the MW and LW scale can be a
little difficult to read due to the radio’s curved front.

Alarm and time setting controls are on the radio’s top
surface. They are fairly intuitive to use and separate alarms can be set to
trigger both the radio and an ‘inhumane’ buzzer. There are no settings to
control which days of the week trigger an alarm, nor is there a weekend cancel
button. The radio has effective Sleep and Snooze functions.
Radio reception is what you’d expect from this style of
radio. The analogue tuning is effective for strong stations, with better
performance on FM than on AM. There are no tuning aids or presets.
Sound quality is crisp from the small speaker. There is no
earphones socket.
A compact clock radio with easy-to-use alarms but very basic
radio features.
Pros: Simple to
use, compact stable design. Fast time and alarm setting. Display shows which alarms are set
